Helloooo! Happy February!! Gratefully and thankfully, it’s been an insane and busy start to 2012. So much so that I have been very negligent about addressing wonderful questions from YOU!! Therefore I am going to answer all of my January questions in an official ‘post’. Please keep the questions coming!! I am always so happy to answer and share my knowledge as long as you grant me the time that a full time makeup artist, mother of 3, wife of one, and artist to myself apparently needs to get it together!
Here goes:

What is your favorite pink blush of all time? p.s I really admire your work! Glad you got make up artist of the year, well deserved!
Thank you so much! It is so wonderfully exciting to have an award on my mantle, it’s the first trophy I have ever won! Regarding pink blush…of all time??? Tough to say. My current fav is with NARS ‘sex appeal’ It’s a light color that I like to dust over any other blush color to give a wonderful pink/highlight hue. I have been dedicated to KEVIN AUCOIN’s Creamy Glow in Liquifuchsia for years and years as well. It’s highly pigmented but gorgeous!
What lip product did you use on Minka Kelley in your portfolio where she’s wearing the leotard?
A classic: LAURA MERCIER Cream Lip Color in Caramel.

hey! I have a Nars cream eyeshadow, but even with primer it creases. Are there any tips to help is stay put? Thanks! x
I really like the NARS shadow primer, and do find that it does work some, though the thing about creams is they do crease. That’s kind of what I like about them. Sometimes if you apply a light dusting of translucent powder on the lid first and then apply the cream shadow with your finger it will stay a bit longer. Also a light dusting of translucent powder over top can help too. I have recently fallen head over heals with the JURLIQUE ‘Citrus Silk Finishing Powder’. It’s perfect to set just about anything.

I am a 49 year old woman looking for a good foundation. I have normal skin to dry skin and I’ve been using a mineral make-up for several years but I just feel like it isn’t the best for me anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks.
My standby classic favorite foundation is CHANTECAILLE Future Skin Foundation. It’s oil free and amazingly easy to build for more coverage if needed. I have also recently discovered and really like HOURGLASS Veil Fluid Makeup. A little sheerer than the Chantecaille, but also build-able.

Hello what is your favorite lipstick/gloss to use on Reese Witherspoon?
I don’t really have a specific go to for Reese. I have been doing her makeup for so many years now that I have had the wonderful pleasure of painting a full range of shades on her. She really has a great ability to wear anything. I love her in a nude and a deeper shade as well!

I am always looking for the perfect blush for my over forty freckled light skin, what would you recommend ?
If I had to choose a favorite complexion it would be fair and freckled.
I think you can go so many routes with your blush. I love a soft pink, try NARS ‘sex appeal’ (mentioned at the top of this post). Try a flushed red, I love
BEAUTY IS LIFE ‘Rouge 27w-c opera, just use it sparingly, a light dusting will do you.
Or try one of my favorite peachy creamy shades by LAURA MERCIER cream cheek color in ‘innocent peach’.

In my professional opinion you can be pretty free, just go in the color flush that makes you feel most beautiful.

Hi Molly, Can you recommend a nude/neutral and champagne eyeshadow equivalent for darker skin?
Depending on how dark of skin we are talking about, my go to taupe by NARS in ‘blondie’ , would serve as a great nude / neutral shade and for your champagne, I am in love with the shimmering shades from YSL’s pure chromatics shadow palette in ‘#20’. A mix of these tones can create a golden champagne or stay more silver. BEAUTIFUL!! Plus you get a fantastic metallic eggplant in there too, great for lining and smudging around the lash line.

Please please tell us which nude lipcolor you used on Reese Witherspoon at the 2012 Golden Globes? She looked flawless!
Yay! I had so much fun dolling her up that day. I used a simple nude gloss from AVON glazewear lipgloss in ‘Island Glow’. But my new nude lip gloss addiction has to go to HOURGLASS Prodigy lip gloss in ‘ingenue’. It’s breathtaking!!

if you had two minutes TOPS, what would you do? TWO MINUTES TOPS!
I have a stinking suspicion this is a very private joke, but I will give you a few answers.
1. I would kiss my husband passionately
2. I would squeeze any one of my kids heads off with an almost painful hug
3. I would curl my lashes
4. I would call my friend in Chicago and tell her I love her.
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR ASKING ME QUESTIONS. PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO ENJOY PLAYING WITH MAKEUP AND DEMAND A POSITIVE SELF IMAGE OF YOURSELF! UNTIL NEXT TIME…xoxo
