Hi! Having started my career at Shu Uemura Asian women and their stunning structure have always interested me.

I think the same rules apply, less is always more. So if you are feeling like your look is heavy, it probably is. My advice is to choose a feature to play up and go with it. Leave everything else as bare as you feel that you can.

I love this image of model Liu Wen wearing a bold lip.

You’ll notice everything other than the lip her look is pretty clean, even the brow. Don’t be afraid to let your natural beauty be one of your features.

If your contour is seeming too dark, try using a shade lighter than what you think you need. NARS Blondie eyeshadow is a great choice. It’s the perfect tone to create shadow and depth.

This is another great example of a fresh face from model Shu Pei.

Here she’s got a stronger brow and her lash line is defined but her lip and cheek is neutral.

When it comes to brows, I always say try and find the hardest formula you can. Both Cle De Peau and Tom Ford make great ones. You want a product that you can fill in and define without the brow looking drawn on. When the formula is harder you can control how dark the brow gets by how much pressure you use when applying. A softer stroke will result in a lighter more natural brow.

I say keep it only 1/2 a shade lighter than your foundation. When it get’s too light it really truly can look like you were in the tanning booth with little goggles on. If you feel like you needs a touch more brightness you can always add a brightener to the darkest spot. I love Cle De Peau’s Brilliant Enhancer. It adds that subtle extra light to your undereye. As well, it serves as a great highlighter for the tip of the nose or cupids bow. Good luck!

I really think a concealer should only be about 1/2 to a whole a shade lighter than your foundation. If it’s too light it kind of defeats the purpose and almost highlights, meaning, draws attention to the under eye. Keep the color closer to your natural skin tone so that you are actually blending out the darkness so it’s less noticeable. Also where you apply the concealer is important too. You want to make sure that you are applying it at the darkest spot and then blending it up and around. You don’t want a full opaque cover because again, that can end up drawing attention instead of diverting. Good luck! x Molly

Hi! Thank you for your kind words. I was lucky enough to work with Nicole Kidman for my first time Grammy night. She chose a gold Vera Wang dress so we warmed up her peaches and cream skin with the help of Chantecaille Future Skin foundation and MAC Face and Body foundation. I popped color on her cheeks with Laura Mercier cream blush in Sunrise and gave her eyes a chocolate smoke using Nars Shadow in Coconut Grove with some Laura Mercier Gold cream eyeshadow gently applied on top. For her lips I used the new NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Mexican Rose.

Hi Nicole! Thank you for your question! A great blush is so important to your makeup repertoire. I always recommend choosing one that is brighter and more pigmented than you would think. That way you are using less of it, yet packing a glowing punch. Even though your skin tends to be oily, I would still recommend using first a cream blush and then setting it with a powder blush.

I love the NYX cosmetics cream blush sticks. They are not greasy at all and come in a huge variety of colors and since you can’t beat the price, you can actually try them all! I would say my favorite shade of the moment is: Tea Rose.

I also Laura Mercier Cream Blush. Gorgeous consistency and wears beautifully. I can’t get enough of the color Sunrise. It’s bright and gives the complexion a whole new life.

As far as powder blushes go:

I am still totally dedicated to NARS blush in sex appeal as a finishing dust. It’s a soft pink that just adds a perfect glow to nearly every skin tone.

If the whole cream and powder combo feels like too much. I strongly suggest you try NARS powder blush in Liberte. It’s a true flush of color. Super pigmented and bright, so go easy, but it lasts and it’s glorious.

Good luck, and I always say, don’t be afraid of color, NOTHING looks better than a happy bright glowing cheek. Make everyone think you just had the best make out session of your life.
